Edit Global Values
Updated
Global Values are the business details that every page of the site shows: the business name, the logo, the phone number, the address, the hours, the booking button label, the ratings, and the trust badges. You change a value once in the editor, and every page that uses it shows the change.
Open the editor
- Open the site from Sites.
- Select Open editor in the header of the site's page.
The editor opens with the heading "Edit" followed by the business name. A line under the heading reads "Changes go live when you save them." The editor has no draft step: when you save, visitors see the change.
The editor has three panels, Global Values, Theme, and Content. A live preview of the site sits beside the panels on a wide screen. The preview has Page shown, which chooses the page it frames, Preview size, which switches between Desktop and Mobile, and Open in a new tab, which opens the page on the live site.
Change a value
Select the Global Values tab. The fields sit in five groups: Business, Address and hours, Calls to action, Reviews and trust, and Other details. A group appears only when the site has fields for it.
Change a field, and the status line under the fields changes from "No unsaved changes" to "Unsaved changes". A dot on the tab shows that the panel holds changes you haven't saved. The editor asks you to confirm before you leave the page with unsaved changes.
A field that the editor can't show says "This field can't be edited here. Change it in WP Admin." Sign in to WordPress admin explains how to open WordPress.
Save your changes
Select Save changes. The button is inactive until you change a value, and it reads "Saving…" while the editor saves.
After a save, a message says "Changes saved.", the status line reads "Saved at" and the time in UTC, and the preview reads "Updating the preview…" while it loads the site again. If the preview doesn't load, the editor says "The preview didn't load. Open the page in a new tab to check the change."
When you change the business name, the address, the city, the phone number, or the hours, a notice reminds you to "Make the same change in the business's Google Business Profile, so search results and the site show the same details."
If a save fails
- "The change wasn't saved. Fix these fields:" lists the fields that hold a value the site doesn't accept. Each field shows its own message.
- "The change wasn't saved, because the site didn't answer." means your edits are still in the form. Try again in a minute.
- "This site changed somewhere else, such as in WP Admin or through the Website Agent, after you opened this panel." means someone else changed the site while the panel was open. The panel shows the current values, so make your change again and save.
Change the logo
The Logo field takes a PNG or JPG file of up to 5 MB.
- Select Choose a file and pick the image.
- Select Save changes.
When the site has a logo, the field offers Replace logo and Remove logo. After you select Remove logo, the field says "The logo will be removed when you save. The site then shows the business name in its place." Select Keep the logo to cancel the removal. The removal happens when you save.
Add or remove trust badges
The trust badges sit in the Reviews and trust group. Each badge has an Icon and a Text. Select Add badge to add a row, up to 3 rows, and select the remove button of a row, named "Remove badge" and its number, to delete that row. Select Save changes to keep the list.
The Google rating field holds a Rating and a Number of ratings.
