Add, edit, and reorder items
Updated
Items are the repeating pieces of content that the site's design lists: services, service areas, industries, locations, gallery images, reviews, and FAQ entries, plus the content groups that the Website Agent creates. The Items view of the Content panel adds, edits, reorders, and deletes them.
Open the Items view
- Select Open editor in the header of the site's page.
- Select the Content tab.
- Select Items in the view control, which is named "Content to edit".
- Choose a type in the Item type list.
The list shows a counter, such as "6 services", and one row for each item with its title and, when the item has text, a short excerpt. A type with no item shows a heading such as "No reviews yet" and the text "Add the first one, and the site shows it wherever its design lists reviews."
Add an item
- Select the button under the list whose name starts with "Add" and ends with the type, such as Add service.
- Fill in the fields. A title is required, and a FAQ entry also needs an answer.
- Select the save button, which carries the same name as the button under the list.
A message says that the item was added.
Edit an item
Select Edit in the item's row. The form opens with the item's title and fields. Change them and select Save changes. Select the link above the form whose name starts with "Back to" to return to the list.
A type that has pages gives each item a page of its own, and the form offers the item's SEO settings as the Pages view does. Edit page text and SEO settings describes the fields.
An answer with formatting that the editor can't show says "This answer has formatting the editor can't show. Change it in WP Admin."
Reorder items
Each row has two arrow buttons, named "Move" followed by the item's title and "up" or "down". Select one to move the item one place. The editor announces the new position, such as "Plumbing moved to position 2 of 6." With two or more items, the list has its own Save changes button, and the order is saved when you select it.
Delete an item
- Select the trash button in the item's row, named "Delete" followed by the item's title.
- Read the dialog. It says that the item "is removed from the site", and for a type with pages, "along with its page" and the page's address. It adds "You can undo this under Changes on the site page."
- Select the delete button, named for the type, such as Delete service. Select the keep button, such as Keep service, to leave the item as it is.
Undo changes and restore snapshots explains how to bring a deleted item back.
If you make many changes in a short time
The editor limits how many item changes you make in a short time. When you reach the limit, it says "You've used a lot of item changes in the last few minutes. Wait a few minutes, then try again."
